Production Status

The MODIS instrument is now it's fourth year of operation and nearly finished with the second major reprocessing called Collection 4. This reprocessing has generated 250m data on a global basis. This data set is allowing extensive work to be done with the Vegetative Cover Conversion (VCC) product and new versions will soon be available.

New for the Collection 4 data set is the Sinusoidal projection. Due to a large amount of input from the Science Community, the MODIS Science team converted the projection from the Integerized Sinusoidal to the Sinusoidal projection for ease of use with COTS (Commercial Off the Shelf) software.

The Vegetation Continuous Fields and Vegetation Cover Conversion products are available from the Land Processes DAAC. In addition continental subsets of the VCF product are available from the VCF section of this website.

In addition the UMD 250m NDVI product for the US and the LBA region of South America are being regenerated with the newly updated MODIS Collection 4 data. These products will be made available through the ESDI interface on the GLCF website.
