250m Production Status

The graphic below details the MODIS gridding system, each square represents a tile. These tiles are referred to with horizontal(column) and vertical(row) coordinates. (Ex. the Florida peninsula is located in horizontal 10 vertical 6 or h10v06).

A decision handed down by the IWG (Investigator's Working Group) limited 250m production to a 10% sample of the Globe(in favor of producing the 500m and 1km products at 100% of the Globe.) Again referring to the graphic below, the areas that are red and blue represent the tiles in the original 10% sample. As we proceed through year 2 of MODIS, 250m production may be expanded to cover more of the global land surface area.Since day of year 257 the data flow has stabilized somewhat, and the 250m L2G processing has been taken over by the MODAPS system (the main processing system for MODIS land data). The NDVI product offered by the GLCF is available for the conterminous US and as six regional subsets. Please refer to the NDVI page for more information and data availability for the US product or refer to the regions of special interest page for availability of NDVI product outside the US. For information on the flow of data into the GLCF follow the Status link below the global tile map to a graphic which details this information.
